HYDE PARK, N.Y.— Callie Johanson has led the way for Mahopac all season and that didn’t change at the second annual Katie Filiberti Memorial Invitational on Jan. 27.
Johanson placed first in the all-around, compiling a score of 34.9. She scored an 8.3 in the vault, 8.6 in the uneven bars, 8.5 in the balance beam and 9.5 in the floor exercise.
The Indians, which placed first as a team with 70.05 points in the six-team event, had first place finishes in all four events. Jamison Castrataro was first in the floor exercise with a 9.4, Sydney Hughes took home the top prize in the beam with a 9.2, Cassie Traina was first in the vault with an 8.35 and Chloe Lee won the bars with an 8.2.
“The team had a nice night,” Mahopac coach Vin Collins said. “It was nice competing again after a week of exams.”
Also contributing for the Indians was Sarah Citarella, who was fifth in the floor.
The Indians will now gear up for the postseason with divisionals taking place on Feb. 6 at Odyssey Gymnastics at 3:30 p.m. Sectionals are on Feb. 9 at Carmel High School at the same time.
“The team is ready for the challenge,” Collins said.
