MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department held its annual open house on Sunday, Sept. 9, and despite the cloudy skies, hundreds turned out for the demonstrations, exhibits, raffles and yummy food.

The MFVFD Dive Team showed off a newly purchased Zodiac boat and trailer with assorted gear, including new wetsuits. The extrication segment wowed the crowd as first responders showed how they remove a patient trapped inside a wrecked car. Lex, the Sheriff's Department K-9 officer, showed how he could take down a "bad guy."

Sparky the Fire Dog made a special guest appearance and, of course, there plenty of fire trucks and emergency vehicles to explore.

The New York Blood Center held a blood drive and set up inside the firehouse to get much-needed donations of life-saving blood.
