MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The rain fell hard Saturday morning before the skies finally cleared. But that was OK—it just made the annual Mess Fest at Kiwi Country Day Camp even messier.

The event is hosted by the Muddy Puddles Project (MPP) for childhood cancer research and honors Ty Louis Campbell, who lost his battle with brain cancer at the age of 5.

y loved the kids’ TV character Peppa Pig and dreamed of jumping in muddy puddles, just like Peppa, when his cancer was cured, but he never got the chance. In remembrance of Ty, the special event is devoted to letting “kids be kids” in honor of those who can’t.

The Mess Fest featured a giant mud pit for jumping in, zip lines, “stopstacle” course, food fights, slime times, splatter paint and more—as well as a special guest appearance from Peppa Pig.
