MAHOPAC, N.Y.-This year’s Mahopac girls basketball squad has lots of new faces and the challenge that comes with playing at the next level.
So it wasn’t a huge letdown when the Indians dropped their season opener in the opening round of the Walter Panas tournament against host Panas, 44-36, on Thursday, Dec. 7, after stingily keeping the margin manageable.
“We had spurts of brilliance and then we had sections where we struggled,” Mahopac coach Chuck Scozzafava said. “It was one of those games [in which] the girls played real hard. The bottom-line is that everything we didn’t do well is fixable.”
Only trailing by only six points at the break, Mahopac lost steam and fell behind by 13 points at one point during the third quarter.
