MAHOPAC, N.Y.-For a team that lost several starters from last season, Mahopac’s girls basketball squad has held its own this year while tackling another grueling schedule.
The Indians have lacked shooting, which helped host Carmel scoot past them, 49-45, on Friday, Feb. 2
The Rams scored 16 fourth-quarter points to Mahopac’s nine. Leading 28-27 at halftime, a frustrating second half that lacked rebounding plunged the Indians to the rivalry loss.
“The story of the game was that they (Carmel) made their shots and we didn’t make ours,” Mahopac coach Chuck Scozzafava said. “We haven’t been shooting well. We didn’t play a bad defensive game, but couldn’t hit shots in the fourth quarter. We also didn’t defend the paint as well as we normally do.”
