MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The sound you heard coming from Mahopac High School last week was that of the student body rockin’ out. MHS held its annual “Illusion” concert, a rock show performed by some of the school’s elite musicians on March 23, 24 and 25. It began back in 1981 and over the years has featured musicians who have gone on to make a big splash in the music world, including Amanda Ayala, who appeared on “The Voice,” and members of Reckless Serenade, who have released several CDs and were part of the lineup for last summer’s nationwide Warped Tour.
Illusion has continued to grow and evolve, adding dancers, videos and cutting-edge lighting and sound technology. This year’s show featured musical selections representing every decade from the ‘60s to the present, according to the show’s director, Stas Przymylski. Highlights included a rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed and Confused” by Sarah Klein; the Beatles’ “Something” by Cooper Aqulino; and Lady Gaga’s “You and I” by Amanda Eppolito.
