MAHOPAC, N.Y.-T.J. McKee was quick to deflect any praise and immediately credited his teammates, but the Mahopac junior produced pure magic on the ice with five goals and three assists in an 8-6 win over the Rivertown Legends.
“The whole team was moving the puck really well and they found me in good scoring spots and I was able to execute,” a humble McKee said.
The Indians trailed by a goal, 6-5, in the third period after Rivertown rallied from a 5-2 deficit on Dec. 10 at Brewster Ice Arena.
John Dignam tied the game up on feeds from McKee and Brian O’Shea (3A). With 2:48 to play, McKee buried the game winner with O’Shea and Brendan Groth (1G, 1A) getting credit for the assists.
“My linemates and I were battling for a puck in front of the net and it popped out into the slot area,” McKee said. “Everyone went for the puck and I stayed in front of the goalie. Brian O’Shea was able to find the puck and pass it to me and I was able to shoot it five-hole.”
