MAHOPAC, NY - Mahopac News and its sister publications, The Somers Record, Yorktown News and North Salem News, are proud to announce that our photographer and graphic designer Tabitha Pearson Marshall was the recipient of the Lyn & Buzz Burr Excellence in Communication Award, which she received Oct. 5 at the 31st annual Putnam County Service Network Awards Breakfast at Putnam County Golf Course.
"I couldn't be prouder to have Tabby on my team," said Brett Freeman, publisher of Halston Media, which also owns four TAPinto.net websites. "Tabby is an incredible ambassador to the community for our newspapers and websites and we are lucky to work with her. I know Tabby is passionate about helping out local charities and clubs such as Community Cares and the Lake Mahopac Rotary Club because she believes in their missions."
Marshall was nominated by Amy Sayegh, founder of Community Cares, a not-for-profit charity that provides meals, laundry services, cleaning services and personal services to families when a parent is undergoing serious medical procedures, such as chemotherapy.
Marshall, who has been a photographer with Mahopac News since its inception in 2010, was nominated "for her use of graphic design talents and photography to promote the work of local non-profit groups and organizations," according to the biography published in the awards booklet.
“She devotes many volunteer hours and talent helping other organizations to succeed in their purpose and look professional. Her photos are the face of the Mahopac community in the Mahopac News. Tabby is an avid supporter of the arts and is a member of the Putnam Arts Council. She also volunteers for Mahopac schools, Community Cares and Freezin for a Reason. Tabby is responsible for the design of the Community Cares logo, all of the group’s flyers, brochures, and promotional materials and she attends the group’s events to take photos. She is a true example of an accomplished, talented professional who gives back to her community.”
