Mahopac senior Briana Corace is a midfielder on the varsity field hockey team. She is also a member of the varsity girls lacrosse squad.

How old were you when you first started playing field hockey and how did you get started?

I was in seventh grade when I first started and both of my older sisters played field hockey and encouraged me to try out for the modified team.

How has the team been preparing for the upcoming season?

The team has been preparing for the upcoming season by doing summer league together at Lakeland High School.

What are some personal goals you have for yourself this season? What are some goals you have for the team?

This season, I hope to be a big offensive threat. For the team, we hope to win the league.

How did you feel about last season? Did you take anything from it that will help the team improve this year?

We really worked hard and well together and that helped us be successful. For the season, we all worked together really well and used it to our advantage because we were a very close team last season.

What do you feel your role will be on the team this year?  

This year I believe that I will be an offensive threat against other teams as well as against my own teams defense to challenge them and myself to get better.

What is your favorite team activity, pregame or postgame ritual that you share with your teammates?

I think my favorite team activity is definitely our team dinners.

Who has been your biggest role model over the years and what have you learned from them?

My biggest role models over the years would be my parents. They really push me to do my best and always work hard because a good outcome will always occur.

Tell us one thing about yourself that not a lot of people know?

My favorite movie genre is horror/thriller.

Do you plan on continuing to play field hockey in college? If yes, where are you going and why did you select that school?

I have not yet chosen a school and will not be continuing to play field hockey after high school, but I plan to play lacrosse in college.

Do you know what you want to study in college? If yes, what and why?

I want to study psychology in college. The brain and how it functions interests me and I like learning about how different mental disabilities can be caused from the brain and its make-up.

Who is your favorite professional athlete and pro or college sports team?

My favorite professional athlete is Odell Beckham Jr. My favorite college team is the Miami Hurricanes football team.

What is your favorite music to listen to warming up for a game?

I like listening to hip-hop or rap, especially Drake and Future.

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

The ability to fly because it would be faster to get around and I wouldn’t have to waste money on gas.

If you could pick one place to visit on vacation that you’ve never been to, where would you go and why?

Probably Greece because it looks beautiful in pictures and the water is so clear.

What is your favorite food to eat before or after a game?

My favorite food after a game is sushi from Kobu.

Best place to eat in Mahopac and why?

Gino’s because I work there and their tortellini carbonara is the best.

Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Why?

Twitter, because it’s a fast and easy way to connect with my friends.

For a young athlete growing up in Mahopac, what would you tell them about the experience of being part of the field hockey program and why should they go out for the team?

I think being a part of any team is a great experience because you can meet so many new people. I met most of best friends from playing field hockey and lacrosse.
