MAHOPAC, N.Y.— Walk MS: Putnam 2017, the annual walk for multiple sclerosis, was held Sunday, April 24, and more than 100 walkers and teams came out to raise money for the cause.

The walkers gathered in the parking lot of the Mahopac firehouse on Route 6 before embarking down the Putnam Trailway bike path off Croton Falls Road.

The group raised nearly $30,000 for the cause, coming close to last year’s Walk total of $35,365, in which 169 walkers participated.

The event was overseen by Karen Ann Vangor, chair of the planning committee. It was attended by local dignitaries, including Deputy Supervisor Frank Lombardi, who led the ribbon-cutting for the start of the walk, and Putnam County Judge James Reitz.
