MAHOPAC, N.Y.— A Carmel man is facing felony weapons charges after Carmel police say they found him passed out in his car in the parking lot of Auto Zone on Route 6 in Mahopac.
Police said they arrested Anthony DeBellis, 38, on Sept. 25 when they found him unconscious in his vehicle and a subsequent search uncovered the weapon, as well as several prescription medications he allegedly had no prescription for.
DeBellis was charged with third-degree criminal possession of weapon, a felony. Police did not disclose the type of weapon they found. He was also charged with two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance when police say they discovered alprazolam (aka Xanax), and diazepam (aka Valium), in the vehicle. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
DeBellis was arraigned by a judge and remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
