MAHOPAC, N.Y.-County Executive MaryEllen Odell declared 2018 the “Year of the Volunteer” in her State of the County speech at the Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac on Thursday, March 15.

“There [are] so many organizations that make up the fabric of this county by volunteering,” she said.

Odell shone a light on longtime community volunteer Thomas Honohan, who began volunteering about 25 years ago when the Mahopac Library was established. Honohan received an ovation for his community participation, including his involvement with seniors in the community; he often drives seniors to and from appointments.

In its first few moments, sitcom-style comedy “Clever Little Lies” grabs audience attention right away, with one of the most revealing wardrobe changes you’ll ever see on stage. It is done modestly but just provocatively enough to elicit vocal appreciation from amused patrons.

The fast-paced play, starring Richard Kline of TV comedy classic “Three’s ...

The Adventures of Superdog

Apparently, when his owner had a seizure, the dog pushed a speed-dial button for 9-1-1, barked into the receiver for help, and then opened the door when the responders arrived.

Honestly, though, it’s ...
