MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – A popular Mahopac bartender was killed early Wednesday morning (May 10) in a single-car crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Mount Pleasant, according to the New York State Police.

Jason G. Shenkman, a 32-year-old Mohegan Lake resident who bartended at The Chophouse Grille on Route 6 in Mahopac, was driving a 2008 Audi A6 northbound on the parkway around 12:03 a.m. when he reportedly lost control of the car, which entered the median and struck several trees before coming to a rest. According to police, a preliminary investigation indicates speed contributed to the crash.

Shenkman was transported by Briarcliff EMS to Westchester Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Shenkman’s cause of death is pending autopsy and toxicology, police said.
