CARMEL, N.Y. - The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department played a role last week in helping the Carmel Police Department apprehend a suspect in a violent domestic incident.

Police said that at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sept 5, Deputy Vincent Dalo, Sgt. Timothy Keith, and K-9 Lex, responded to a home in the town of Carmel to assist the Carmel PD with a male subject who had fled the scene of the domestic incident.

Deputy Dalo obtained an article of the subject’s clothing, which was used as a “scent article.” The scent article was introduced to Lex, who was able to locate a trail left by the subject and led Dalo and Keith into a wooded area where the suspect was found lying in a tall, grassy area.

The subject, whose name the police have not yet released, was turned over to the Carmel Police Department.
