MAHOPAC, N.Y.-The Putnam County Traffic Safety Board (TSB) has recommended several changes to some roads and intersections in Carmel and Mahopac, including the area and intersection of Route 6N, Hill Street and Myrtle Avenue.

Carmel Police Lt. John Dearman presented the report by the Traffic Safety Board at the Town Board’s Feb. 28 meeting. The TSB is composed of members of the Carmel Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, State Police and municipal highway departments from throughout the county.

The TSB made five recommendations, but its suggestion that the Town Board pass a resolution for a state study to reconstruct the Hill Street/Myrtle Avenue area of Route 6N and possibly add a traffic signal was the most significant.
