Putnam Arts Council Hosts CD Release Concert featuring New Middle Class, with Dan Pelletier & Wendy Cody
MAHOPAC, ny: On Saturday evening, June 16, 2018, the Putnam Arts Council will host a concert celebrating the release of the new CD What’s That Thing? by the award-winning contemporary acoustic pop group New Middle Class. Also appearing will be special guest Dan Pelletier with Wendy Cody.
New Middle Class is Hudson Valley duo Barbara and Mike Borok. Their many songwriter awards include Grand Prize at the Music to Life Songwriting Contest at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas. Their songs, which have been played on over 50 radio stations worldwide, are adventurously original and walk a thin line between the funny and the serious. They are currently featured on the Women of Substance podcast and the Funny Music Project web site and podcast. The North County News wrote, “The songs written and performed by Barbara and Mike Borok included razor-sharp satire that echoed throughout an audience energized by appreciation for the talent on stage.” New Middle Class will be joined by bassist/guitarist Emile Menasché and other guests.
A former computer programmer turned lawyer, Dan Pelletier's songwriting is inspired by a wide range of subject matter – everything from the circus to controversial issues, and the recurring theme of true love. Dan’s soulful voice can at turns be powerful and gritty, or tender and emotive. If Tom Lehrer, Shel Silverstein, Sting, Joe Cocker and James Taylor all had a kid together, it would be Dan. He will be joined by stand-up bassist Wendy Cody.
This extraordinary lineup of original artists will perform from 8:00 to 10:00 PM. Doors open at 7:30 and refreshments will be served. Tickets are $10 and reservations are recommended. Call 845-803-8622 or visit the New Middle Class or Putnam Arts Council websites for information.
