Jefferson Valley Mall Solar Panel Ribbon Cutting

Jefferson Valley Mall is running on solar energy! On Saturday, October 5th, during the 30th Anniversary of Yorktown’s Community Day, we will be having a Solar Panel Ribbon Cutting ceremony at 1:00 p.m. in the front entrance of the mall (near Stone Rose Steakhouse). The ceremony will include remarks from State Senator Harckham, Assemblyman Byrne, Yorktown Supervisor Gilbert, the Chamber of Commerce, Con Edison, Safari Energy, mall General Manager Alexa O’Rourke, and two local students, who will speak about the significance and impact of this on their future. We will also have local school environmental clubs showcasing science projects, and the BOCES “Green Machine” trailer here for all to learn about alternative energy. This is in addition to our big Community Day event happening at the same time.

Well, there’s this…

In the latter half of the 18th century, one Adolph Philipse owned a sprawling 52,000-acre provisioning plantation, ...

To the Editor; I normally do not respond to letters in your fine newspaper, but I took exception to what the candidate to the town board, Jean Hopper said about another candidate and past Deputy County Town Supervisor and Councilman Frank Lombardi. I have had the pleasure to work with Frank on so many charity and civil fundraiser events and have seen the character he possesses and his drive ...
