It will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. Sixteen-year-old climate crisis activist Greta Thunberg, in a gut-wrenching, emotion-filled address to world leaders at the 2019 United Nations Climate Action Summit, in New York, last month, spoke these powerful words:

“This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare ...

More Than a ‘Mascot’

October 16, 2019

There are six public school districts in Halston Media’s coverage area.

Two of them, or one-third, have chosen the Indian to represent their athletic teams: Katonah-Lewisboro and Mahopac.

I’m not going to rehash the debate whether the term Indian, on its own, is pejorative. Hundreds of writers more skilled than myself have already tackled the subject, and their articles are ...

When the indomitable comedian Betty White (now 97) hosted Saturday Night Live nine years ago, she acknowledged the power of social media in thrusting her onto the iconic show.

Well, there’s this…

In the latter half of the 18th century, one Adolph Philipse owned a sprawling 52,000-acre provisioning plantation, ...

Town Board Elections

October 11, 2019

To the Editor; I normally do not respond to letters in your fine newspaper, but I took exception to what the candidate to the town board, Jean Hopper said about another candidate and past Deputy County Town Supervisor and Councilman Frank Lombardi. I have had the pleasure to work with Frank on so many charity and civil fundraiser events and have seen the character he possesses and his drive ...
