CARMEL, N.Y. - The 48th annual Putnam County 4-H Fair, sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension, attracted huge crowds the weekend of July 26, 27 and 28 as attendees from all around the region came out for the festivities held at Veterans Memorial Park in Carmel. There was lots to see and do at the three-day event, including live music at the Shady Grove Theater; lots of animal and livestock exhibits; the Master Gardeners tent, where you could buy all kinds of plants and flowers and get advice from experts; magic shows; Civil War and Revolutionary War encampments; myriad games and demonstrations; the county living auction; and all kinds of delicious food, from grilled corn on the cob to fair’s famous chicken barbecue.
