MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Middle School held its annual STEAM Fair (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) on Saturday (Jan. 24) as the district’s scientists of the future put their research and experiments on display.

Students in grades 6-8 picked projects ranging from electronics to wind power to disease and much more, and came up a hypothesis, did the research and presented their findings. The fair was overseen by MMS teachers Kelly Kischak and Margaret Fox.

“This is about the sixth year we’ve done it,” said MMS principal Tom Cozzocrea. “It keeps getting bigger and bigger. It moves with the times and technology. You see a big representation of things that are going on in the world today that the kids are interested in.”

The young scientists were mentored by Honor Society students from the high school and the projects were awarded for best in each grade level and for the best overall.

“We look at this now as a community event, not just a middle school event,” Cozzocrea said.
