MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Lakes Council 6318, and the John P Mooney Council 5743, along with councilmen Frank Lombardi and Robert Schanil Jr., are sponsoring a food drive to collect provisions for the local food pantries at St. John’s the Evangelist and St. James parishes, Saturday, April 18, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Geary Skate Park parking lot across from the Mahopac firehouse on Route 6.

They are in need of non-perishable items, such as canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, cereal, canned sauces, tomato sauce, tuna, coffee, etc. They will also be collecting money and grocery store gift cards.

“There are so many in our own town who are all in desperate need right now, so please try to help,” said Lombardi. “Once these items are collected, we will bring to the food pantries and work on delivering to those in need if they cannot go to the store or go to the pantries themselves. Many people have asked what they can do at this time to help, so here is a great opportunity to help your community.
