CARMEL, N.Y. - Putnam County now has 256 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (90 confirmed cases in the town of Carmel, including Mahopac) and Putnam Hospital Center has confirmed 11 virus-related deaths since March 28.
“Our numbers will increase over the next two weeks,” said Councilman Frank Lombardi, the town’s coronavirus liaison. “The bottom line, which I continue to repeat, stay home, stay safe. To protect your family, friends, our doctors, nurses, police and firefighters, we must stay diligent and stay home. Continue with social distancing, so we can continue to stop the spread and flatten the curve. Each of us must do our part. We all play a huge part in this effort.”
Lombardi said those with questions on issues related to Coronavirus in Putnam County, should call 211, not 911.
“Remember to only go out for essentials and ask your senior citizen neighbors if you can get them something while shopping, so they don’t need to go out,” he added. “Please support our local stores and restaurants at this time with takeout orders.”
