MAHOPAC, N.Y. - The Carmel Police Department welcomed another new police officer to its ranks last week when Supervisor Ken Schmitt swore in Devon Sanborn.  

Sanborn is a 2012 graduate of R.C. Ketcham High School and a Wappingers Falls resident. He previously worked for the Wallkill Police Department and attended the Rockland County Police Academy, graduating in June 2019.

Sanborn also served in the United States Navy and was discharged honorably with a rank of petty officer 3rd class.

In addition to Sanborn’s swearing-in, Officer Brian Forbes was promoted to the rank of detective. Forde is a 2009 Carmel High School graduate and transferred here from the Kent Police Department in August 2018. Forde is a 2013 graduate of the Dutchess County Police Academy.
