MAHOPAC, N.Y. – Mahopac girls soccer bulldozed their way through their final three regular-season opponents last week, as the Indians get set to open the real season—the playoffs.

The Indians rolled over Roy C. Ketcham, 7-0, on Wednesday (Oct. 16), then handed Carmel an 8-0 beating two days later on the road. Pac closed the regular season with a 5-1 road win over Brewster.

Mahopac (13-3), drew the No. 4 seed in the Class AA playoff tournament, and was scheduled to host No. 13 Fox Lane (7-8-1) in a first-round game Friday (Oct. 25) at 6 p.m. Quarterfinals are Monday, Oct. 28, and semifinals follow on Oct. 31. The championship game is set for Sunday, Nov. 3, at Arlington High School at 5 p.m.

In Saturday’s win over Brewster, Grace DiVincenzo and Mia Klammer each had 2 goals, and Hailey Pereira had 1. Jenna Daly had 2 assists, and Klammer and DiVincenzo each had 1.

“That was definitely a great way to end regular-season play—with a 5-1 win,” Mahopac coach Casey Carroll said. “I’m really excited to see what we can do during sectionals.”

A day earlier at Carmel (4-11-1), DiVincenzo had a hat-trick, Alyssa Chiulli scored twice, and Klammer, Pereira and Olivia Conlin each had a goal, as the Indians’ defense recorded its sixth shutout of the season.

Piper Klammer had 3 assists, and DiVincenzo, Julia McGrinder and Meghan Cichon each had 1 assist.

“This is the sixth shutout for our defense, which really works hard every game,” Carroll said. “Grace DiVincenzo had another stellar game for us with a hat-trick, which is always exciting when you’re playing against the town rivals.”

The prior Wednesday at Ketcham (3-12-1), DiVincenzo netted 4 goals, and Piper Klammer, Shannon Becker and Alexa Rispoli each had a goal. Mia Klammer handed out 3 assists, and Rispoli, McGrinder, Pereira and Cichon each had 1.

“That was a solid league win for us,” Carroll said. “We moved the ball nicely, and got out to an early lead.”
