MAHOPAC, N.Y. – Last year as a sophomore, Mahopac’s Krista Dietz earned All-League honors in field hockey and bowling.
When and how did you first get started in field hockey?
I started playing field hockey in eighth grade playing for the modified team, after many years of playing travel soccer. I really liked soccer; however, I started to get bored of it and wanted to try something new. It wasn’t really until I started playing on a field hockey travel team that I wanted to really pursue playing at a higher level.
What do you enjoy most about playing for Mahopac field hockey?
I really enjoy playing for Mahopac because, as a team, we like to have fun on and off the field.
What’s your favorite memory playing field hockey?
My favorite memory, right now, was being chosen to play for the USA Futures National Field Hockey Team. Only the top female athletes from across the country are chosen for this premier championship event. I also was trained by college coaches and met/played with a lot of really good field hockey players from across the United States.
Who inspires you the most?
My dad, because he pushed me to be the best I can be. He has always encouraged me to try new things and has taught me to be hardworking and determined. Something I truly live by.
What are your plans after high school?
I have been looking at a couple of colleges right now, as I really want to play field hockey on the college level. I am not 100 percent sure yet on my major, but possibly in the business field.
How do you get motivated for a match?
I love to listen to different kinds of music. Once we get off the bus, I will start to get even more motivated by dancing to the pre-game music.
Favorite place to eat locally?
Frankie’s Waffles & Burgers. I love to go there and get their chicken and waffles.
What’s your favorite place to visit on vacation?
Arizona, because my sister goes to college in Tempe at ASU. It gives me a chance to see her, the mountains are beautiful, and the weather is always HOT!
What’s something about yourself people would be surprised to learn?
My birth was actually documented on a TV show called, “A Baby Story,” on the TLC channel.
What’s the go-to app on your phone?
Of course, SnapChat. I have a lot of streaks with my friends where we snap all day.
What’s your favorite TV show to binge?
“Live PD”; it is really entertaining
