James Russo (132), Xander Smith (106), and Londrim Hasanramaj (220) all took thirds in their weight classes.

Indians 120-pounder Aidan Muldoon took a fourth, and Brock Fitzpatrick placed fifth at 160 pounds.

“It was nice to see Tyler back to himself, wrestling at 152,” said coach Steve Tornambe. “He looked really good, he was moving well. Larry also looked great, he had a real close match in the finals and lost by three points. He was really the star of the tournament for us.

“Xander has been looking strong right now as well,” the coach added. “Russo keeps getting better every day, his hard work is paying off. And Londrim had a great tournament. Our seniors have been stepping up, and our juniors have been following.”

Tornambe also liked what he saw from Fitzpatrick. “Brock did a good job to get fifth place at 160,” the coach said. “And Aidan taking fourth place really tells me he’s ready for sectionals and divisionals. This tournament had some tough competition. Ryan Kick also had some tough matches, and he wrestled well.”

The Indians were scheduled to visit Horace Greeley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 30).
