NEWARK, NJ - Shawn Custis, the man accused of attacking a Millburn mother in her home on June 21, is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, July 2, at 9 a.m.
Custis has been charged with first-degree attempted murder, first-degree robbery, second degree burglary and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He allegedly entered the woman’s home at approximately 10 a.m. and assaulted the woman in the presence of her two children, and threw her down the basement stairs. A portion of the attack was filmed on the family’s video camera.
Custis was taken into custody on Friday, June 28, and bail was set at $750,000.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s office reminds us that these are accusations. All defendants are presumed to be innocent unless and until they plead guilty or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court or law.
