St. Stephen's Church, 119 Main Street, Millburn, will hold a Blessing of the Animals service on the church lawn at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 2.

The Reverend Sheelagh Clarke, Rector, will officiate, with music provided by Hambone Kelly and his band. This service celebrates our pets as part of God’s creation and the great joy that they bring to us. The celebration commemorates the Feast of St. Francis, lover of animals and nature, who died on October 4, 1226.

Pets, their caregivers, and friends of animals, from the Township and surrounding communities, are invited to join church members on the lawn or in the parish hall in case of rain. Animals must be in pet carriers or on leashes. Each pet will receive an individual blessing, and children who wish may bring stuffed animals to be blessed. The celebration lasts approximately 30 minutes.
