SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Get ready to start your engines. GFest, one of the largest gatherings of vintage German car-owners on the east coast, will be taking place in the heart of the Village Center on Saturday, May 18, from 9 AM - 9 PM. Levent Erhamza, owner of Guten Parts, the Euro car parts and service center just off of Valley Street in South Orange, is the primary sponsor of the festival, which marks its fourth year. This is the first time that the event is being held in cooperation with the Village and South Orange Village Center Alliance.
Last year's GFest saw visitors from not only New Jersey, but 12 different states and 5 foreign countries. With more than 600 people expected (with their 400 cars) the Village is preparing to greet a wide new consumer group for businesses all over town. Local merchants are hoping for a great day with many pedestrian shoppers who may be seeing the Village for the first time.
GFest promises to be a family event suitable for kids of all ages, car enthusiasts and "even people who don’t know much about cars at all." This focus will be on German cars of the 80’s which will be showcased in various South Orange parking lots in different parts of town. For example, rare convertibles will be showcased in one location, and race cars in another, etc.
Registration and t-shirt sales will be in Spiotta Park at South Orange Avenue and Village Plaza.
