SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - The Babe Ruth 13U Northern New Jersey baseball tournament got off to a great start for the local teams this weekend. South Orange-Maplewood mounted a come from behind victory to defeat South Plainfield 8-6 on Thursday night. Millburn soundly defeated Cheesequake in a game shortened by lightning, for which everyone was probably grateful, as the score was already 14-0.
The action continues on Saturday with South Orange-Maplewood facing Basking Ridge at 11:30 AM; and Millburn facing Bayonne at 2 PM. Then, on Sunday, it will be Long Valley vs. South Orange-Maplewood at 9 AM followed by Millburn vs. Wood-Ridge/Moonachie at 11:30 AM.
The games are played on Cameron Field in South Orange. Playoff round will be Tuesday and the Championship Game on Wednesday, weather permitting.
