MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Township of Maplewood will be holding a Public Input Session to discuss the future use of the Woman's Club building on Tuesday, June 11 at 4 PM at the Burgdorff Cultural Center, 10 Durand Road, Maplewood.
Township Clerk, Elizabeth J. Fritzen, notes that this is an input session only, and no action will be taken.
Mayor Victor DeLuca had told The Alternative Press on Wednesday, when the township took ownership, that he would be seeking feedback from Maplewood residents about possible uses for the site. Certainly, no time has been wasted in announcing this meeting.
DeLuca had said that he could envision having some community programs take place in the building, but that there infrastructure issues that would need to be inspected first.
There has also been talk of the site being used for downtown parking, with the possibility of the building coming down. This would upset some in the community who see the building as having historic significance.
This session on Tuesday is the public’s first opportunity to make their opinions known, and all concerned are urged to attend.
