MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Tuesday is primary election day, and the polls in Maplewood will be open until 8 p.m.  In the race for Maplewood Township Committee, one Democrat and one Republican are each running uncontested for the chance to vie for the open seat in November.

Democratic incumbent Marlon K. Brownlee and Republican Arthur Gartenlaub are the respective candidates seeking the three-year term.

Brownlee has served one term on the Committee, having been elected in 2010 over Republican candidate Bart Albini.

Gartenlaub has lost in two previous bids for a seat on the Committee, including the race last November against incumbents Kathleen Leventhal and Jerry Ryan.
