MAPLEWOOD, NJ – A rainy Saturday and a blistering Sunday could not stop the positive vibrations from flowing at the tenth annual Maplewoodstock festival this weekend.
An incredible array of musical talent was on display for those who ventured to Memorial Park for this annual “of the community and for the community” event, as chair Gary Shippy put it.
From rock to blues, jazz, country, Cajun, reggae, soul and beyond, the music kept coming with something for everyone. Breaks between acts were kept to a minimum and the show followed its planned schedule like a well-oiled machine.
Vendors displayed a wide variety of clothing, art, photography, jewelry and more. Delicious food was on offer from many local restaurants and shops. Mostly, though, it was about the music and the friendly gathering of neighbors for an amazing weekend.
The festivities culminated in a performance by Joan Osborne that had the crowd captivated with it soulfulness.
The overall vibe of the event might best be described by the hashtag that social media users have been using in regard to the event, #bestweekendoftheyear.
