IIDA NJ’s Fashion Meets Finish; "RAW Design" Event took place on Thursday, May 17th, 2012 at Kean University’s STEM Building in Union, New Jersey. Architecture & Design firms were paired up with sponsoring manufacturers to create unique wearable garments. Nineteen teams competed for the coveted title of one of the three categories: Best Use of Materials, Best Construction, Best Raw Design.

The concept for the event was "RAW design". The challenge was to deconstruct the manufacturer’s material and construct a wearable garment and accessories to sashay down the catwalk for this year’s highly anticipated event.

Studio 1200 was paired with Highmark Seating and with our "Element 1200" warrior design, won the category of "Best Use of Materials" as well as runner-up for "Best Construction". Alexandra Karamouzis and Tiffany Caporale spearheaded the design and execution of the garment. Other winners of the night included Kean University’s gladiator garment for "Best Construction" and Office Furniture Parntership’s wedding dress for "Best Raw Design". This philanthropic event raised $10,000 to benefit the next generation of interior designers, and brought out the best in creativity, excitement, generosity, and fun in our Architecture & Design community!
