KEYPORT, NJ – An unidentified man bought several scratch-off tickets at Keyport's Shell Food Mart at 110 Clark St. a few weeks ago. He didn't know he would be leaving the convenience store with a winning ticket that would make him $4 million richer.

TAPinto interviewed Ajaz Ahmed, a longtime cashier at the store, who was working when the winning ticket was sold for $30. He said the winner does not live locally but visits his daughter, who lives in the Bayshore, often. Ahmed said the man, whose name is unknown, always purchases scratch-off tickets at Shell Food Mart whenever he is in the area.

Ahmed said that people typically buy tickets that cost $3 or $5, making this a rare occurrence. What makes this story even more extraordinary is that Ahmed believes the winning ticket was the last one of its kind to be sold at the convenience store.

“The maximum amount of money usually won at this store is $500,” Ahmed said. “This was the largest prize that I've ever seen sold here.”

Congratulations and a happy new year to the undisclosed winner!
