TRENTON, NJ -- Gov. Phil Murphy announced Wednesday at his daily COVID-19 press conference that beginning Friday, May 22, New Jerseyans will be able to take a self-administered, self-swab COVID-19 test at seven Wal*Mart locations across the state in Burlington, Flemington, Garfield, Howell, Kearney, Mount Laurel, North Bergen. These drive-up locations will be open 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. three days a week (weather permitting) by appointment only.

"More testing = more people will know their health status. More people knowing their health status = more peace of mind," the governor said. "More testing = more data. More data = more steps forward."

Some additional good news: 
  • NJ hospitals currently have 3,405 patients being treated for COVID-19, and field medical stations reported just 47 patients.
  • Number of patients reported in either critical or intensive care fell to 969.
  • Ventilator use dropped to 750.
  • There were 261 new COVID-19 hospitalizations vs. 282 live patients discharged Tuesday.
"The total number of hospitalizations is now well less than half of what it was just four weeks ago," Murphy said. "The rate of new cases at our long-term care facilities continues downward from the peak. The numbers of lab-confirmed deaths associated with our long-term care facilities are also decreasing from the peak."
 
"We’ve lost an additional 168 New Jerseyans to COVID-19, bringing our total of loss of life to 10,747," Murphy said. "We have 1,670 new positive COVID-19, bringing our overall total to 150,399," the governor reported.

During the press conference, Murphy also said that he has been in touch with the owners of sports teams of the state about their possible return.
 

Monmouth County has 7,597 positive cases 
of COVID-19. MONMOUTH COUNTY NUMBERS IN PRESS RELEASE: 
FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Freeholder Director Thomas A. Arnone and Freeholder Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley have announced that, as of May 20, there are 70 new positive cases of COVID-19 in Monmouth County, bringing the total to 7,597.

The Freeholders also noted that all public access restrictions to County buildings and programs have been extended through Sunday, May 31. This includes all Monmouth County Library branches and the Monmouth County Park System buildings, except public restrooms.
