HOLMDEL, NJ - Take a room full of beautiful kids, add some ingredients, mixing utensils and a hefty dose of fun, and what do you get? A Kids Mega Challah Bake!
Holmdel history was made on Sunday January 20th, when over 75 parents and children gathered together in the Holmdel community Center for Holmdel’s First Ever Kids Mega Challah Bake. The event was a huge success, and kids and parents are already looking forward to next year’s Kids Mega Challah Bake. “We had such a great time at the Challah bake” said Yael Menkin, a Chabad of Holmdel Hebrew School mom. “My daughter and her friends had the best time and keep asking how soon we can do it again!”
The event began with the children decorating a gift bag with a personal note, to be used for their “Loaf of Love” that each child was to give away after baking their Challot.
Participants then made their way to their seats. The room was arranged with many round tables, all set to perfection for the mini Challah chef. From the Challah ingredients all pre-measured and packaged in small individual containers, to the chef hat and Challah apron, each child felt proud and excited to be taking part in this important tradition.
The rising Challah was then shaped, and some decorated with fun colored sprinkles or chocolate chips. It was a fantastic morning that was enjoyed immensely by all, as testified by all of the smiling and beaming faces. The Kids Mega Challah bake was co-sponsored by Chabad Jewish Center of Holmdel & Chabad of Holmdel Hebrew School.
