Eileen Josephine Flanagan (nee Donohoe) born January 18, 1938 passed away on March 24, 2021 in Palm Coast, Fla. at age 83.

Born to Patrick and Nora Donohoe in Dublin, Ireland, Eileen emigrated to Buffalo, NY where she met her husband John Patrick Flanagan.

The couple lived in various locations including Buffalo, NY, Dobbs Ferry, NY, Holmdel, NJ, and West Palm Beach with Red Bank and Palm Coast as their current location.

Gifted with a generous heart, engaging personality, and love of the Lord (famous for her signature greeting and sign off “God Bless”), Eileen embraced the community wherever she lived and was cherished by all. She was active in the schools, participated in church events, and shared her Irish charm with everyone she met. Eileen knew no strangers, only friends. Together Eileen and John traveled the world and led a rich and blessed life. Her accomplishments were many including being a talented seamstress, avid baker and beautiful singer.

Most importantly she was adored by her 19 grandchildren. Lovingly referred to as “The Nana”, Eileen leaves behind husband Deacon John Flanagan; children Siobhan Samuel (husband Tim, children Tim, Patrick, Brendan and Aislinn, and great grandchildren Leo and Henry); Deirdre Ward (husband Joseph, children Joseph, Kevin, Terence, Patrick and Maeve); Sean Flanagan (partner Michele Meglio, sons Riley and Owen); Aileen Davis (fiancé Tim, children Wade, Shea, Evan, John Patrick, Cole and Ashley); and Noreen Flanagan (wife Brandi, and children Fionn and Feena).

She is survived by her sister Nora Farnan (Dublin); sister Maura Dillon (South Carolina); sister Rita Grant and husband Robert (Dublin); brother Sean Donohoe and wife Doreen (Dublin); brother-in-law Joe Flanagan and his wife Jeannette (New Jersey) and sister-in-law Mary Donohoe, wife of her late brother Patrick (Dublin). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation Tuesday March 30th 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel.  Mass of Christian burial Wednesday March 31st 11:00 am at Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel.  Burial St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities; catholiccharitiesusa.org.
