RED BANK, NJ – Man, whatta mess.
The White Street/English Plaza Streetscape Improvement Project launched on Monday closing off Broad Street to the English Plaza Parking lot.
Like they say, you gotta break a lot of eggs to make an omelet.
It’s managed chaos and undoubtedly the local business owners weren’t happy. Directly affected were the Rook Coffee shop, Quicksilver Jewelry, Cabana 19 and Hair & Company.
But the construction firm worked hard and diligently to get the job done as quickly as possible. Check out the carousel of pictures including “before” and “during” construction pictures.
New concrete for the sidewalk was poured and that section of street should be opened today.
The Red Bank engineering firm ENGenuity Infrastructure, anchored by Jaclyn J. Flor, President and CEO, was contracted by the Red Bank RiverCenter to provide an improvement plan for the White Street and English Plaza Parking lots.
“ENGenuity is performing construction administration and inspection services for the project. We understand the importance of effective communication with the Borough, the RiverCenter, and the businesses and residents throughout construction, and our goal to make sure all remain fully informed of daily construction activities as well as the overall schedule so that businesses and residents can plan ahead. We are honored to be a part of this important project in the Borough’s downtown," said Flor.

According to a Red Bank RiverCenter information release, “This project includes new ADA accessible sidewalks and curbs, ten additional parking spots, new lighting and landscaping, and better drainage and stormwater management. The finished project will complement RiverCenter’s previous streetscape projects on Broad Street and Monmouth Street.”
Next stop will be the English Plaza parking lot. TAPinto Red Bank will keep you updated on this three-month project.
“The White Street and English Plaza Streetscape Project will improve safety and flow for all modes of transportation (vehicular, bicycle, pedestrian, etc.). It will allow for better access to all businesses on West Front Street, White Street and in English Plaza. There will be greater lighting, new landscaping, a re-designed parking area in English Plaza and a pedestrian boulevard that will run from Riverside Gardens Park all the way through to Monmouth Street. The project is a joint effort of Red Bank RiverCenter and the Borough of Red Bank,” said James Scavone, Executive Director of the Red Bank RiverCenter.
