HOLMDEL, NJ - The tragedy of COVID-19 continues.

According to Tuesday's 1PM press conference, the Governor and staff report that 1232 residents have died due to COVID-19. From a testing perspective, 89,911 residents were tested with a positive reading in 43.77% of those tested.

The top 5 counties are as follows: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union and Passaic.

Four new orders are pending from the Governor:

  • Order Extending by 30 days the public health emergency – ensures another 30 days. 
  • Order closing all state and county parks. Municipal Parks is a municipal decision
  • Public Schools to extend deadlines on April elections – ensure enough time to certify budgets and make staffing decisions
  • Waiving student assessment requirement including portfolio appeal process. Waives use of student testing data for educator evaluations.

Long term care facilities are deeply impacted including 188 facilities with at least one COVID-19 patient. Some patients will need to be moved due to staffing and equipment concerns identified due to reporting from the various facilities.
