NEW JERSEY, Adding to the ongoing tragedy of the novel coronavirus and resultant COVID-19 pandemic, news of a four-year-old child passing away brings fresh sadness. The first reported death of a person under the age of 18 was shared on Friday during the daily press conference by Governor Murphy.

Governor Murphy said, "It's the only fatality we've had under the age of 18," he said. "We're going to leave it at that." The young child's name was not released. Officials did state that there was an underlying medical condition.

"They are the faces of those we have seen everyday, and they should remain in our thoughts,'' Murphy said.
