COLTS NECK, NJ: On Tuesday, June 18th, the pre-k students of The Country Day School of Colts Neck (CDSCN), their teachers, family and friends, gathered at the Firehouse #2 on Conover Road in Colts Neck, to celebrate and honor the CDSCN pre-k graduating class of 2019.

Everyone gathered in the Firehouse's Triple Crown banquet room at 1:00 p.m. to witness the 11 pre-k graduates receive their diplomas and walk over the 'bridge to kindergarten'. Before the ceremony started the students thanked everyone for coming and entertained the happy guests with several songs they learned while attending CDSCN. The children even sang a couple songs in Spanish that they had learned from the Spanish instructor at CDSCN. Parents, family and friends were watching the show and capturing as much video and pictures as possible on their smart phones. It was a joyous event for all!

Previous TAPinto Colts Neck news article below about The Country Day School of Colts Neck's expansion:

On Sunday March 10th there was a warm welcome on a rainy day for the open house and ribbon cutting to celebrate the new expansion of The Country Day School of Colts Neck (CDSCN).

The CDSCN has been nurturing and educating children from infancy through pre-k since 2007, and hosted an open house and official ribbon cutting to celebrate their new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math  (STEAM) Lab, an additional classroom and an expanded Nursery. Information from that event can be seen below this article.

Colts Neck Committeemen; Mike Viola and JP Bartolomeo were present, as well as Glen Dalakian and Sue Fitzpatrick of the Colts Neck Business Association.

Colts Neck Business Association President Glen Dalakian commented, "Congratulations Lori and John. We like to see successful businesses and this one obviously has been successful over the years. With this new expansion it is going to be even more successful...God bless you and welcome to our business district."

The ribbon cutting was held in the new STEAM Lab.  The Lab is affectionately named "Miss Mimi's STEAM Room" after a beloved teacher Dr. Mariana "Mimi" Pedro-Medlin who passed in October of 2018. Her husband Jay Medlin was at Sunday's ribbon cutting and commented, "My wife Mimi was a school psychologist for many years, and she loved more than anything to work with young children. She changed her career and she decided to work here and found so much joy in doing so. She really loved to work here."

The classrooms were open for touring and every room was full of natural light and colorfully decorated walls... Teachers greeted guests and answered any questions.

Owner Lori Ellis comments, "It has been such an incredible year! My husband John and I are so excited about all of the new things we are doing. We are so grateful to our 70+ families for all their support. Our Executive Director, Ashley Mole’ has played a huge role in our success over the past year. Ashley has been with the school for many years and has always had a tremendous following amongst the students and parents. I couldn’t ask for a better Director and I’m so grateful to her for partnering with me on this journey. We’re so fortunate to have such incredible teachers, many of whom have been with us for many years and some who have joined us this past year and have already had a tremendous impact on our students' lives. This is the best job in the world! We’re so blessed to have a school that feels like home to so many families."
