NEW JERSEY – It was an enjoyable affair... Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy  hosted a craft beer celebration to honor New Jersey’s booming craft beer industry. The event was held at Drumthwacket, the official residence of the Governor. The event featured over twenty of New Jersey’s craft breweries. The Governor and First Lady announced that New Jersey beer will exclusively be served at events and parties held at their  Drumthwacket home.

"The number of breweries in the U.S. continues to grow and craft brewers are making more beer, producing 25.9 million barrels, up 4% over 2017. Craft brewers also grew their share of beer volume to 13.2%, as overall beer product dropped 1%," According to the Craft Brewing Association.

“People are recognizing the quality, personality, and great diversity of New Jersey’s craft beers,” said Governor Murphy. “Over the past five years, New Jersey’s craft beer industry has been the fastest-growing in the entire country. We are proud to support the brewers and small businesses who are investing in our communities and growing New Jersey’s economy.” There's no place in the country where the popularity of craft beer is booming faster than the Garden State. New Jersey has seen a 43 percent growth in its craft beer industry since 2015, tied for first place with Kentucky, according to a new study done by the Brewing Association.

“The over one-hundred craft breweries operating in New Jersey today embody the best qualities of our state’s homegrown small businesses,” said Eric Orlando, Executive Director of Brewers Guild New Jersey. “Unrivaled ingenuity, boundless creativity, and a steadfast perseverance to meet the demands of an ultra-competitive marketplace has led directly to the latest round of awards bestowed upon these three great Garden State breweries. We would all like to thank the Governor and First Lady for the acknowledgement of these award-winners today, and for the opportunity to showcase the quality and diverseness of craft beer being brewed in New Jersey at one of our state’s finest landmarks, Drumthwacket.”

"New Jersey's craft breweries are consistently innovating, and delivering a high quality product to the residents of our state and beyond,” said Alexis Degan, Executive Director of the New Jersey Brewers Association. “This fledgling industry has changed the landscape of craft beverage production and consumption in the seven short years since the law changed. Our breweries are transforming downtowns, creating new tourism destinations, and serving their communities in so many ways. Being able to showcase the offerings of our many breweries at Drumthwacket with the support of the Governor and First Lady is incredibly gratifying. We look forward to working with the Administration to continue helping this industry grow and thrive.”
