Honorees for the event were Sheriff Shaun Golden and Freeholder Director Tom Arnone. Monmouth County SPCA commented, "Our SPCA has had many transformations in the past 74 years of existance, but few that compare to events in the past few years that have made such an impact on our organization...all of the advancements in such a short period of time would not have been made possible without the tremendous support and understanding of Freeholder Director Tom Arnone and Sheriff Shaun Golden."

The advancements according to the the SPCA are; providing broader countywide animal control services, shared services, updated animal cruelty proactive law enforcement, state of the art information technology, K9 vehicles, 911 communication, 24 hour law enforcement technology support, and more.  "We owe both of these extraordinary county officials (Golden and Arnone) a great deal of gratitude for all of their past and for what we are certain will be their continuing support," MCSPCA.

According to MCSPCA Executive Director, Chief of Humane Police, Ross Licitra; "When I was first appointed to MCSPCA in 2015, the very first official 2 phone calls I made were to Freeholder Director Arnone and Sheriff Shaun Golden...I spoke with Arnone and asked for the things I needed, shared services... we were the first in the state of NJ to receive the help we needed, saving over $80,000 a year...Sheriff Golden gave us 21st century technology communication that no other SPCA in the state had access to...I was called to Trenton to testify how Monmouth County made it happen."

The support given by Golden and Arnone significantly helped the Monmouth County SPCA making such an impact that in 2018, the entire animal protection law was changed in the state of NJ.  The Monmouth County SPCA created a new standard, an example of success to follow for animal services in the entire state of New Jersey. The entire board of Freeholders and all of the members of the Sheriff's office were thanked for everything they regularly do to support the mission of the MCSPCA.

In the spirit of bipartisan support for the MCSPCA and the honorees, Senator Vin Gopal was at the Fur Ball, and presented a proclamation of appreciation from the State of NJ, to Arnone and Golden.

Co-chairs for the event were Christine Giordano Hanlon, Esq. and Frances Turner. Both women are community leaders who are passionate about the humane treatment of animals and dedicate countless volunteer hours to the cause. Hanlon, also Board Vice President of the MCSPCA, commented, "Thank you to both Freeholder Director Arnone and Sheriff Shaun Golden for your unparalleled support to the MCSPCA and for your service to both the residents and animals of Monmouth County."

The weather was perfect for the outside tented event which hosted over 200 guests who enjoyed each other's company throughout the evening. Many furry friends were onsite to proudly represent the MCSPCA, truly making the evening special, an evening to remember!
