MIDDLETOWN, NJ - The December meeting of the Middletown governing body entails a rather straightforward end of year list of business items for the public.
One noteworthy item is the Presentation of Donations Raised for First Responders from the Mayor’s 5K Challenge. This appreciation is planned towards the beginning of the meeting.
A Proclamation is also planned for Supporting the MTPD’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over 2019 Year-End Holiday Crackdown.
Below are a few notable resolutions and an explanation:
Resolution 19-282 is a Resolution Authorizing Cancellation of Unexpended Balances for 2019 to be Credited to Surplus. This is used to cancel appropriations made for 2019 before the year is over. By doing this the town is able to use those funds in the 2020 budget instead of the excess funds waiting in surplus until 2021.
19-284 is a Resolution Supporting the Monmouth County Raritan / Sandy Hook Bay Coastal Resilience Planning Study
19-285 is a Resolution Approving Adjustments On Certain Previously Awarded Professional Service Contracts. This is typically done when the original not to exceed amounts are exceeded.
19-286 Resolution Authorizing Award of Contract for Recreation Bus Trips for Various Events for the Middletown Recreation Department. This department is very active in town.
19-287 is a Resolution Authorizing the Transfer of Appropriations in the Local Budget of the Township of Middletown for the Year 2019. This is a typical year end resolution since various departments typically come up too short to finish the year. Other departments with extra funding are used to transfer funds to the departments running out of funding. Towns are able to do this in November and December of each year.
A large capital ordinance is also being confirmed. 19-291 is a Resolution Confirming The Sale Of $8,135,000 General Improvement Bonds.
