NEW JERSEY - In a major change in traffic ticket procedures, a mandatory court appearance is now in effect on the Garden State Parkway.
Typically, pleading guilty to a certain speeding offenses requires logging on to the payment website, paying your fee and moving on. Not anymore.
Now, it is required to make a trip to court. Since courts are not open, however, assume your court date will not be in the near future. See photo in article to 'get the message' if caught speeding.
This is in addition to massive toll hikes planned for the Garden State Parkway. Hearings are being held despite the pandemic to increase a typical $1.50 toll to $1.90.
The funds are to be used in part to fund capital infrastructure investments.
