MIDDLETOWN, NJ - Governor Murphy today, on behalf of New Jersey, mourned the loss of local Middletown resident and highly regarded businessman and community volunteer, John McCarthy. McCarthy was well known throughout Monmouth County and his loss will be felt by many.

"John McCarthy was an Army Veteran and a small business owner and leader along our bayshore. He was a long time member of the Hazlet Business Owners Association, the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Bayshore Community Center in Keansburg. He also coached youth baseball." said Murphy.

According to his LinkedIN account, McCarthy was the Vice Chairman at Bayshore Senior Health Education & Recreation Center. He owned and operated United Check Cashing. He was a graduate of PACE University.

"We lost him yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Donna and their family. God rest his soul." said Murphy.
