There is something really cute and quilly happening in the Bayshore area! Those starving for entertainment while in quarantine, love to follow Pepper; an American Hedgehog Warrior! Pepper's fame was essentially born out of boredom a couple weeks after COVID-19 quarantine started in NJ. Pepper, a 2-year-old female hedgehog was adopted last year by Mike Cannizzaro. Mike grew up in Holmdel, NJ, and still lives in Bayshore, in the town of Keyport. Mike told TAPinto Holmdel, that his condo association does not allow traditional pets like cats and dogs. So, he opted for an adorable hedgehog instead.
Mike commented, "Pepper is constantly on the move when she’s not sleeping, and she’s used to being more active than she was becoming during quarantine. I needed to think of something to make her want to be more active." (Sound familiar?) So, being the loving Hedgehog owner, Mike decided to grab some random items he had laying around the garage, and created a fun obstacle course for Pepper in his living room. "I was impressed to see Pepper get through it pretty easily, so I filmed it, narrated it and uploaded it to Facebook and Instagram...." The power of social media took over and voila! A Star is Born!
The first course took off with millions of views in one week, so Mike created Course 2, followed by Course 3, with over 2 million views at publishing time of this article. You can meet popular Pepper in the video below.

Course 3 ended up going viral even faster than Course 1 on Mike’s facebook page, with over 2 million views in just 3 days and it has even been requested for use by NBC Sports and People.com! America can't get enough of amazing Pepper! Good stuff!
Mike and his family are owners of a family entertainment center, Knockerball & More, located at the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown which has been closed since March 14 due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Pepper is a famous mascot there, where he's used to getting a lot of attention from the kids! Now that he's gained national fame on youtube, we certainly hope he will still visit us locals at Knockerball when it reopens.
Mike says Course 4 is on the way ! You can follow Pepper's fame: or you can follow Pepper’s journey through her quickly growing Instagram page @myfriendscallmepepper
