HOLMDEL NJ - A fire broke out on the roof of Hobby Lobby in Holmdel, at approximately 11AM on Sunday. Roads were blocked off and the site was evacuated.

Command on scene requested dry chemical extinguishers to the roof. Mutual aid was also there to assist Holmdel from nearby towns.

According to news released by Holmdel Police Department:

"Holmdel Police responded to report of black smoke coming from the roof of the Hobby Lobby store located in the Holmdel Towne Center. Solar panels on the roof were on fire and later extinguished by responding fire companies.  Hobby Lobby store was closed at the time of the fire.  All Stores nearby were evacuated.  Fire departments from Holmdel, Hazlet, Union Beach, Keansburg, Manalapan and Tinton Falls responded along with Monmouth County Rescue Task Force and Holmdel First Aid.  Holmdel Police and the Monmouth County Fire Marshall's Office are conducting the investigation.  Nearby stores resumed normal operations within two hours.  A special thank you to Texas Road House for feeding the emergency personnel on location."
