Mass "in Cars"

Bishop David O’Connell has given permission for parishes to celebrate Mass in cars, if it can be done safely and reverently.

Rejoicing, we announce that we will celebrate one daily Mass this Wednesday, May 27 at 9:00 am in our parking lot at the Church of St. Catharine. We will celebrate Sunday Mass on May 31, at 9:00 am.

We are limited as to how many cars we can safely accommodate, according to the CDC and NJ State guidelines. You may find upon arrival that the lot is full. We apologize in advance.

The Readings can be found at www.USCCB.org. You are encouraged to access them to prepare for Mass. Click here for the Hymns for Wednesday!

Please read the following procedures carefully so that we may all have a beautiful experience of Mass:

  • Arrive at least 15 – 30 minutes early (between 8:30 - 8:45 am).
  • Plan on staying for the entire Mass.
  • Enter the parking lot from Middletown Road only. There will be staff members and ushers directing traffic.
  • When you park, turn your car off, and open your windows.
  • Everyone in your car must wear a mask for the entire Mass. The celebrant and those assisting at Mass will wear masks except during speaking parts.
  • During communion, keep hands inside of car. Clergy will come to you. After the priest or deacon leaves, then take off mask, receive communion and replace mask.
  • We encourage you to bring hand sanitizer and clean your hands before receiving Jesus. Clergy will be accompanied by a staff member carrying hand sanitizer to keep their hands clean between cars.
  • Reverence is of the utmost importance. Please turn off all cell phones, and follow rules regarding eating and drinking, as if you were in the church.
  • Remain in your car the entire time.  There will be no access to rest rooms.
  • At the conclusion of Mass, please remain in place until a parking attendant directs you out of the parking lot.

There will be no collection taken at the drive-thru masses. Please support our parish by giving online HERE.  You may also mail your donation to 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733.

Thank you for your patience as we learn this new way to have Mass. Please abide strictly by these procedures for the safety of all involved.

For those who cannot attend Mass in the parking lot, know we will continue to record and post Sunday masses during the crisis.
